DESIGNER ENVY- My soft spot for gimmicky heels

It has been awhile since I have had a full on designer shoe envy (probably due to being locked up revising in my room and spending less time on Style.com and Sea of Shoes if anything else)

But once I laid eyes on these DSqaured shoes which have a SPINE FOR THE HEEL (!!!) I fell a little bit in love.

"It's just such a genius idea!" I cried.
And then after getting a major deja vu I got thinking about the sheer amount of times I have said that after seeing a rather cool pair of heels.
After trawling the extensive albums of photos of shoes which are knacking up my computer hard drive I realised just how many gimmicky heels there are out there.
Shoe designers love a good novelty idea to get people talking and buying. (If this was a power point I would add the cheesy *KERCHING* sound effect here)
It makes sense really, I mean I know a girl can own a lot of shoes but there are only so many plain black sling-backs someone can have before they crave the crazy.

And I know I would rather have a pair of fierce, eye catching, compliment attracting, fabulous shoes than a pair of plain. fabulous shoes (remember my rant at the beige schmeige and boring ol' Celine's "Wardrobe Staples" ?)

So here are some more gimmicky heels I found.
I'll shut up now and let them do the talking:

Dolce and Gabbana 'Face' shoes- photo from Sea of Shoes

The Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte 'Melted Wax' heels (which I thought looked like the Wicked Witch of the West melting...) Source unknown

The legendary Chanel 'light bulb' shoes (source unknown)

And the lovely new 'Chandelier' heels from the Prada collection.
Can you think of any more shoe gimmicks?

I could go on but I really must go back to revising Vietnam and Womens rights for my exam tomorrow. Exciting I know.
Ciao!

Winner of my favourite NYFW AW2010 collection goes to....

ANNA SUI!
Everybody give her a big round of applause:

Bless her. Anyway, yes out of all the collections I have been trawling through on Style.com since I got back from Spain (more on that in a post soon...) this one really stood out for me. Yes, it is the usual Sui use of clashing prints and textures put together to give a wonderfully bohemian look but if it is a formula which works so well, why change it?
Evidence of her amazingness here on Aggy Deyn and Abbey Lee Kershaw:

Finally I could not resist posting these killer Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte heels which I saw on Style Bubble...
These melted candle wax lace ups are simply inspired:
And is it weird that they remind me of this scene in the Wizard Of Oz when the Wicked Witch Of The West is melting?

ps) What was your favourite collection from last weeks NYFW?

pps) After Anna Sui in 1st place I would have to put Alexander Wang in 2nd and Oscar De La Renta in 3rd :D

Spring Summer 2010 Roundup- My favs

Just a quick post before I dash off to a sleepover...

Here is my quick round up of my favourite looks and collection from Spring Summer 2010:

Top 3 designers:

1. Over the top ice queen awesomeness at Alexander McQueen.

2. Floral loveliness at Erdem

3. Candy stripes at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Top 3 hair:

It’s all about the big hair; afros at LV, crimped craziness at mulberry and major bed head hair at House of Holland.

Top 3 bags:

I am falling for the chain strap ladylike bags seen at Luella, Matthew Williamson and Chanel.

Top 3 shoes:

My top 3 pairs of fierce black heels are from Rodarte, Valentino and Lanvin

Which are your favourite designers from the Spring/Summer 2010 collections?

Designer Envy- 'Rodita' Christian Louboutins

Do I really need to say anything?

The picture itself is self explanatory but if not the words "zip" , "platform" and "Louboutins" in one sentence should be enough.

Fabulous!

Latest Style Obsession- "Florals for spring? Groundbreaking..."

Yes every spring when I inevitably think of buying something floral I always seem to hear Meryl Streep's aka Miranda Priestly's voice in my head from 'The Devil Wears Prada.'

So yes I agree it is not original but how can you resist?
Especially after seeing Luella's S/S 09 collection of flowery beauties and of course all the other fabulous stuff to be found on the highstreet...

Designer Envy

I would simply love to own this Luella Bow bag. (I was going to say that I would kill to have this bag but not even a Chanel 2.55 could resort me to murder. I think.)

Alexa Chung with the pink version...

I could get the similar Anna Lou of London ‘Meredith’ Bag but they are just not in the same league...

Latest Style Obsession- Fabulous Feathers!

At the moment I am obsessing over all things feathery. So glamorous, so sophisticated and perfect for spring/summer.
So take a look at my favourite finds; I could "oooh" and "aaah" at them all day...
Fist up I give you the ostrich feather mini skirt that has been featured in Grazia Magazine and also by Gok Wan on his 'Fashion Fix' programme (Make note- Its on Thursdays on Channel 4 at 8pm- not to be missed!)
This TopShop beauty is just gorgeous and the ultimate spring party skirt for £60.

Another lover of feathers is Katasha Khan from the band Bat For Lashes:

I am tempted to make my own DIY feather head band a bit like Natashas here with some feathers I have found in VV Rouleaux.
Yes I will probably get the piss taken out of me if I wear it, and get called Pocahontas but I dont care.

I could not leave out a photograph of this this outstanding wedding dress I came across on the internet. It is a dress made of 2009 peacock feathers and is also embellished with 60 Hetian Jade stones. It took 8 people 2 months to finish and not suprisingly costs $1.4 million dollars.
But on your wedding day you want all eyes to be on you so this show stopper would still be worth every penny.

Edit- Check out the Burberry prorsum feather dress photos that I have finally managed to get ahold of:
