Designer Envy- Badass McQueen Clutches

No rings needed with these awesome McQueen clutches!
I want one now...

The Wish List

I love these tote bags designed by Oonagh O'Hagen for Browns focus.
On each simple white bag is a print of a luxury designer bag, such as Louis Vuitton and the words "I am not a Vuitton bag."
It's a parody of the very popular "I'm not a plastic bag" Anya Hindmarch designed a couple of years back which you could get for just a fiver at Sainsbury's.

My favourite out of the range has to be the Chanel 2.55 one though (see bottom photo)

I am definitely adding these to my wish list!
A nice twist on the famous 'to-die-for' designer bags and at a fraction of the price:

Just leaving to go on holiday by the way so it will be a week before I get the chance to get back to you all!

Style Inspiration- Ugly Betty

Follow my blog with bloglovin

You are probably thinking, “Yes I love Ugly Betty, her character is cute, the plots are silly but fun, the fashion references are good, and Marc and Amanda’s bitchy comments are hilarious but ‘style inspiration,’ really?”
Well yes, the costume designs for Ugly Betty are done by none other than the Patricia Field, who in case you didn’t already know is the genius behind the wardrobes in Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and also Confessions of a Shopaholic.
So yes here is my unlikely style inspiration this week and I am taking inspiration from Betty's clashing patterns, quirky accessories, bright colours and cute sweaters...

Patricia Field, stylist guru

She has also done the warbrobes for Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada and Confessions of a Shopaholic.
And of course Ugly Betty...
Does anyone else have a weird style crush?!

This also applies to the international garment industry.

Russia is still among the countries that look forward to a bright future based on the economic forecasts. Russia experts agree:Anyone wishing to benefit from tomorrow's economic upswing should lay the fundamentals for his business today. With their first participation at the 13th CPM РCollection Premi̬re Moscow, the German premium label Marc Cain delivers a clear statement to the Russian market: 'Marc Cain is betting on markets with potential," explains Distribution Director Norbert Lock. "While we do already have numerous customers in Russia, it is a good time to expand our customer base. We are swimming against the current. Russia remains an important market and CPM is an ideal platform for presenting our label and reaching out to new customers from across the country."

New exhibitor Marc Cain is one of approximately 1,000 labels from 29 countries that are participating in the upcoming CPM from 6 to 9 September 2009 at the Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow. Eastern Europe's leading international fashion trade fair offers visitors an extensive and transparent overview of the current trends for the next season in the areas of womenswear, menswear and kids fashion, lingerie, leather and fur garments, bridal and evening fashion, young fashion, casual wear and accessories.

Girl Crush- Lily Allen

My recent girl crush has to be Lily Allen.
Her prom dress, big gold earrings and scruffy trainers combo is no more and she is now seen out and about in all the hottest designers, especially Chanel (she literally has a 2.55 bag in every colour of the rainbow)
She is even the new face of the a/w accessories collection, specially chosen by Karl Lagerfeld. When asked why he chose her he simply said “Shes fun.”

Lily before the Chanel vamp, back when she wore trainers instead of Louboutins:

The Chanel ad campaign photos, just released today:

I also love her because every time I hear her song “Not Fair”about a guy who is rubbish in bed I cannot help but giggle:

Your thoughts on Lily Allen as the new face of Chanel?

Katydid girls clothing line creates punky phrases

In addition to her successful women's clothing, handbag, and accessories label, designer Katy Messersmith introduces girls' T-shirts and tanks to the Katydid Collection brand this summer.

"My women's tops have been such a big hit, that a matching children's collection was a natural step," says the 32-year old Texas native. "Whether a little girl wants to match her mom, or just stand out on the playground, these styles are perfect for fashion-savvy kids."

The designs are a mini version of Katy's wildly-popular women's tattoo-inspired tees and tanks. The tops feature popular motifs - crosses, crowns, fleur-de-lis - embellished with clear and colorful crystals. Some styles also include punky phrases such as "Rock Angel" and "Rebel at Heart" in bold lettering across the front.

Currently, the collection has ten tees and five tanks for little girls' size four to ten. Each cotton tee, is machine washable and made in the USA.

Mumbai: No one sells like Shah Rukh Khan in Bollywood. Even before the release of ‘My Name is Khan’, his film is being seen as a hit considering the hype surrounding every little detail of the film.

Latest news has it that Fox Star Studio has reportedly bought the rights of the film for a whopping Rs 100 crores! Added to this, the film is said to be rich on music side as well with songs having chartbusting potential.
Critics, who have seen the rushes of MNIK, were overwhelmed by what they saw and heard. They were all praises for the trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music composers and director Karan Johar.

‘My Name is Khan’ has been in news for all the right reasons. Super hit onscreen couple SRK and Kajol will be seen together after a long time. Written by Shibani Bathija, the film is about a Muslim (Shah Rukh) who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities, and he is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post-9/11 Los Angeles after authorities mistake his disability for suspicious behaviour.

Katrina does not believe in comparison

Katrina truly proves that she is a woman of substance and her head stands well on her neck in spite of all the hype that keeps coming her way.

So many things have happened since my last post!
I will let you know about them in list form, because I am sad and I love lists:
1. The summer holidays have started! So I have 7 weeks of relaxation and not having to stress or even think about exams or revising of any kind.
2. I have a fringe! Yes after having the same old centre parting for literally years I took the plunge and got it cut. Love it.
3. I got a train to London by myself which is the first time I have ever travelled on my own anywhere! I had a great time staying with my lovely cousins. We went shopping in the Topshop on Oxford Street (we made sure we went to all 3 floors of its Topshop goodness!) and also went to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. Haha I went a bit crazy finding all the postcards of my favourite paintings.
Great start to my holidays!
In Topshop though I ended up just buying the above outfit. I tried loads of stuff on but none of it seemed quite right and I "didn't want to buy for the sake of buying" as my mother says so I just got the sunnies and dress/top thing. I did buy a killer pair of gladiator heels from New Look though. Chuffed.
I hope you are all having a fabulous summer relaxing in the sunshine!

Monsoon brings hot styles in vogue

Ever thought that getting wet in the heavy downpours will also be fun? Saggy clothes and wet boots are a part of the monsoon, but right choice of accessories, will help to dodge the puddles and give a trendy look.

Any clothing ranging from tops, skirts, and dresses will go with the season, while a knee length costume along with a colored pair of leggings would best sustain the monsoon sprit.

Vibrant shades of indigo, red, green and blue are the designers’ choice for monsoon. Along with it, electric shades of bright green, orange, and pink also complement.

It is best to avoid fabrics like chiffon, and crepe as getting wet might affect its quality. The right combination of colorful accessories makes the monsoon attire all the more appealing.

Aqua colored glass beads, and funky translucent bangles make the match for monsoon clothing. Beautiful bracelets, earrings, and neck pieces made of plastic, rubber, and acrylic make a trendy fad.

Glam Dolls' Life: Fashion and Beyond

"Supermodels' face's from the past"

Abstract

This is a compilation of research that gives us a quick peek about how the fashion industry was literally tamed by some of the most notoriously gorgeous faces in the history of fashion.

It shows how the supermodels gradually transformed themselves from being "mere cloth hangers" to being the "trend setters" thereby giving fashion of there era a new dimension altogether.

Introduction

Some time back supermodel Claudia Schiffer famously said that the 'supermodel culture' is dead. Schiffer also said that supermodels like herself, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford 'don't exist anymore'. The German model blamed the film and the pop stars for stealing the status of fame and international recognition which was once possessed solely by supermodels. And this is where the inspiration of this research work comes from.
